Ben and Lela came over for pizza night! They brought strawberries from Lela’s garden and banana muffins and wine.
We did a basic Neapolitan crust with OO flour, made earlier in the day. Full fat mozzarella (Bristol Farms) with homemade sauce (classic pizza sauce recipe). Preheated the oven around 40 minutes until it was over 800ºF, then turned the heat down to medium. Each pizza cooked in about 4 minutes. Reheated the stone on high while I prepped the next pizza.
They all did have some burned flour on the bottom, which wasn’t terrible, but next time we’ll try semolina flour on the peel instead of OO.
I made a crunchy celery and radish salad that I think was a nice balance for pizza.
Started with a cheese as usual. Flint ate three slices and wanted more.
So we did a half cheese, half veg next and Flint ate two more slices. He set a new personal best for number of pizza slices eaten in one night.
Then two pepperoni pies! One with onions and olives, too. And fresh basil.
We put a bottle of Mike’s Hot Honey on the table for drizzling. It’s spicier than anyone expected and went nicely with the pepperoni. Flint even had a little on his cheese pizza and liked it.
We had Lela’s strawberries for dessert and probably a little too much wine, but it was super fun!
